Kristine Cayne’s, Guns ‘N’ Tulips, is the perfect
story for anyone that likes reading Cops, Robbers and Dirty Harry style crime
fiction with a sprinkle of romance. It’s a happy ending romance. The main character
Connor Kavanagh is as real as any fictional cop can be as he infiltrates an
organized gang of serial bank robbers. Connor is a kind of a Dirty Harry with a
modern day twist. Connor love interest’s,
Lily is not the typical helpless and frightened female character, but one that recognizes
Connor right away and wastes no time in giving him a piece of her mind. Kristine gives great attention to the detail and
layout of the bank, procedures, and how the bank vault works. The antagonist, Rourke is a garden variety
scum-bag that any reader will love to hate. I would have liked to seen a full
length novel that incorporates more details of the inference of the St. Patrick’s
Day Parade that has taken on a life of its own and switch to the struggle of
the Police and the swat team struggles to get through the drunken crowd. I
would have also like have known more about the how and why of what led Connor to
take to put his entire life on hold in favor of this top secret assignment. Kristine Cayne’s, Guns ‘N’ Tulips was well
worth the .99 cents I spent and I enjoyed reading, Guns ‘N’ Tuplips. Today,
novels are mimicking television with the use of the “Teaser.” At the end of this
novelette, is a sample teaser for her new series, Deadly Obsession, Book One of
the Deadly Vices romantic suspense series.
My recommendation, Kristine Cayne, is an author worth
keeping an eye on and reading other works along the Crime Fiction genre. You find Guns 'N" Tulips at: http://www.amazon.com/Guns-N-Tulips-ebook/dp/B00B9KUZK0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361226421&sr=8-1&keywords=guns+n+tulips
